About the Program
A four-year baccalaureate degree, the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management focuses on tourism principles, geography, culture, planning and development, business management, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, laws, marketing, promotions, airline operations, travel and tour operations, hotel and resort operations, and tourism research. Providing opportunities for students in Davao City and Mindanao to access globally recognized hospitality courses, this program delivers key competencies in tourism business, with a specific emphasis on international tourism management.
Program Educational Objectives
Three to five years after graduation, the graduates are expected to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of tourism industry, local tourism products and services
- Interpret and apply relevant laws related to tourism industry
- Observe and perform risk mitigation activities
- Utilize information technology applicants for tourism and hospitality
- Manage and market a service-oriented business organization
- Demonstrate administrative and managerial skills in a service-oriented organization
- Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guest and colleagues
Student Outcomes
By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:
- Plans, implement and monitor tours and sales activities.
- Research, plan and conduct various tour guiding activities.
- Develop appropriate marketing programs and arrange the required travel experience.
- Plan/Organize, implement and evaluate MICE activities.
- Plan, develop and evaluate tourism sites and attractions.
- Conduct research in hospitality and tourism field.
- Perform the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling
- Apply the basic concepts that underlie each of the functional areas of business (marketing, finance, human resource management, production and operations management, information technology, and strategic management) and employ these concepts in various business situations.
